 Background:

Job Description:

 

  • To provide comprehensive day to day Safety operations management and ensure safe, environmentally compliant, and efficient operations; to achieve the overall business plan.

Or

  • To maintain safe and healthy environment as guided time to time according to the nature to duty and of the various procedures and systems approved by the Management

OR

  •   Develops and oversees mine safety programs by regularly visiting all parts of the mine to identify and then correct unsafe work conditions.


 
 Duties and responsibilities:

 

  • Governmental Safety Regulations: Supervise  the HSE activities of  Mining projects, insuring the facility's compliance with pertinent governmental regulations,  company policies and procedures

 

  • Working Environment: Promote occupational health and safety within the Company and develop safer and healthier ways of working

 

  • Safety Policy &Procedures: Make sure that the Company is aware of, and complies with, all legislation in relation to the use of its plant, equipment and substances, as well as in all workplace activities

 

  • Accidents: Supervise the investigation of accidents and unsafe working conditions, study possible causes and recommend remedial action

 

  • Training & Development: To develop and implement training sessions for management, supervisors and workers on health and safety practices and legislation

 

  • Emergency Evacuation: Coordinate emergency procedures, mine rescues, fire fighting and first aid crews

 

  • Reporting: Communicate frequently with management to report on the status of the health and safety strategy and risk management strategy and determining the cause of unsafe conditions and injury claims through procedure, equipment, and facilities inspection and worker observation.

 

  • Corrective action: Provide corrective action, recommendations and supervise implementing healthy policies and procedure and review project work plans for accuracy in conformance with the standards and assist in safety program audits, coaching, and training.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

 

  • A University degree in health and safety, environmental safety, or related field of study
  • Formal qualification in HSE
  • Training courses
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external parties at all levels
  • Ability to deal and negotiate effectively with external parties at all levels
  • Ability to build and maintain excellent relationships with local people , local government and colleagues.
  • Numerate, analytical, attention to detail
  • A Team Player with professional image, capable of handling highly confidential information
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Able to multitask and work on a variety of activities simultaneously
  • A strong-sense of teamwork and ability to both manage and execute programs
  • Fluency in English language

 

Experience:

  • Knowledge / experience of the local mining industry (intensive)
  •  
  • Knowledge / experience of international safety standards
  •  
  • Experience with computer and MS Office Apps (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • 5-7 years experience
