 Background:

The Community Security and Stabilization programme intends to contribute to the stability and resilience of the selected communities, which are at the risk of being drawn into conflicts in the six states (South Kordofan, Blue Nile, West Kordofan, White Nile, Sennar and North Kordofan). It aims to achieve this by: (i) Strengthening resilience of target communities through diversified alternative livelihoods for vulnerable groups primarily focusing on unemployed youth who are at risk of being drawn into conflicts and vulnerable women, (ii) Creating a conducive environment for graduated small arms control at the sub regional, national and community level to reduce the occurrence of armed conflicts and loss of life, (iii) Provision of socio-economic infrastructure having direct relevance to the conflicts, (iv) Strengthening the communities to manage the community infrastructure and NGO/CBO service providers for improved service delivery to target beneficiaries and communities for long term peace and stability, (v) Promoting cross-border cooperation among the communities and authorities for enhancing stability at the bordering communities.

 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Summary of Key Functions:

Provision of reliable and secure driving services
Proper use of vehicle
Day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle
Availability of documents/ supplies

1. Ensures provision of reliable and secure driving services by:
a) driving office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items and
b) meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport, visa and customs formalities arrangement when required.

2. Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.

3. Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.

4. Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, and map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts.

5. Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accident.

6. Assists passengers in boarding and exiting vehicle.

7. Loads and unloads luggage, packages and other items.

8. Transmits and receives over two way radio system.

9. Monitors traffic and weather conditions and notifies dispatch of potential problems.

10. Keeps interior of vehicle neat and orderly.

11. Accurately completes driver trip sheet for each shift with information including driver number, vehicle number, number of passengers, pick up and drop off times, mileages, destinations, etc.

12. Learns and remembers locations of various destination points serviced by the fleet including lodging, entertainment and attraction sites.

13. Treats all guests, customers, and other persons in a courteous, friendly and professional manner. Also may be required to perform other related duties as requested.

14. Must also be available to work flexible hours.

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Education:

Secondary Education.
 

Work Experience:

3 years’ work experience as a driver; safe driving record; knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair.


 


 

Languages:

Good English Language Oral and written communication skills.
 

 


Other Requirements:

Valid General Sudanese Driver’s License.

 Experience working in the UN or other international agency is preferred.
 Knowledge of operating a radio.
