Programme Analyst on Reproductive Health

 Background:

Under the guidance of the Country Representative and under the direct supervision of the Assistant Representative  and in close cooperation with National Programme Officers on Advocacy, HIV/AIDS/RHCS/PDS, Reproductive Health Program Officer works over formulation and design of the assigned country programme’s reproductive and maternal health projects activities. S/he manages assigned program and provides significant contribution to design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of reproductive and maternal health program/activities not directly under her/his responsibility.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Analyze political, socio-economic,  population and health situation relevant to reproductive and maternal health and identify strategic areas for UNFPA interventions, with particular attention to the UNFPA country programme target geographical areas;
  • Significantly contribute to formulation and design of reproductive health program component’s projects/activities, with particular focus on projects in selected areas;
  • Analyze and report on implementation of the assigned program activities, monitor program expenditures and disbursement to ensure delivery is in line with approved budgets;
  • Facilitate the work of consultants, advisors and experts involved in the implementation of the program under her/his responsibility;
  • Maintain close working relationship with national and international counterparts involved into implementation of the assigned program/project activities, with special attention to collaboration with Federal and State  health authorities in the areas of UNFPA implemented program components;
  • Contribute to monitoring and evaluation of reproductive and maternal health projects/activities through applying existing procedures and mechanisms as well as through development of new approaches and tools;
  • In collaboration with respective program officers works on achievement of reproductive health commodity security in the country through advocacy efforts, development of coordination mechanisms and providing technical assistance;
  • Provide expertise  and facilitate advocacy activities relevant to reproductive health in particular through preparation of relevant information for evidence-based advocacy;
  • Contribute into implementation of communication activities on reproductive and maternal health;
  • Analyze resource mobilization environment, identify opportunities for resource mobilization, draft proposals and follow up on their implementation;
  • Provide input into development of programme reports both through drafting of the relevant parts and providing expertise on reproductive and maternal health.

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Education:

Advanced University Degree in Medicine, from an accredited University and currently licensed to practice within home country or other national jurisdiction; a Master’s Degree in Public Health would be an advantage 

Experience:

 

Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in reproductive and/or maternal health. Not less than 2 years of experience in programme design and implementation. Experience with projects or a programme implemented by multinational or bilateral donors is an asset.

Languages:

Fluency in oral and written English. Good knowledge of Arabic.

Computer Skills:

Proficiency in current office software applications.
