Mining Surveyor

 Background:

qualified surveyor to lead its surveying operations at its flagship mining operation in Halfa North Sudan. This role is a great opportunity to provide quality surveying services to operational and engineering planning Departments.  The potential candidate will be using Leica surveying equipment to perform construction and mining routine work. Working a 2 month on, 2 weeks off roster and reporting to the operation Manager, you will be:

Liaising with mining and planning personnel to maximize ore production and maintain grades

Maintaining survey cars in a safe and tidy manner, stocked with all required consumables

Carrying out survey activities for projects, plant as required

Ensuring work procedures are done in accordance with company policies (Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality) management system



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Using and gathering knowledge of other surveying construction and mine systems, processes and procedures

Effectively communicating with relevant departments across the business to ensure daily targets are achieved in the weekly mine plan)

 Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys in order to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performed.

Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.

 Direct or conduct surveys in order to establish legal boundaries for properties, based on legal deeds and titles.

 Record the results of surveys, including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features.

 Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain

 Prepare or supervise preparation of all data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys.


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

•Surveying or spatial science degree or diploma (or relevant)

•Post graduate mine surveying experience is preferred but not required

•Sound practical surveying skills

•Ability to use Auto Cad and Microsoft office software

•Demonstrated support and participation in company safety initiatives

Experience with Trimble and Leica survey equipment

•Exposure to GIS software such as Map Info
