Internal Communication Specialist

Overall Duties & Purpose of the Job Definition & Objective of Role:

The Internal Communication Specialist (ICS) will work closely with the Connections Manager and other communication supervisors to help establish an effective, efficient system of communication across all of DAL Food, including both the communication process and the communication guidelines that will govern this process.

The ICS will then turn input of information from others into content that will be delivered through different channels to colleagues across the business, including through digital, print, merchandising, events, meetings, cascading, presentations, and other means of communication. The ICS is expected to work closely with multiple stakeholders, from leadership to all levels of employees, and leverage communication to advantages for the business.

The purpose of the role is to develop a consistent, streamlined, company-wide communication process and guidelines so that stakeholders eventually understand how, when, and what to communicate, leading to a regular flow of information within the business.

The ICS should be intrinsically motivated to grow, try new things, and support the success of the business and its employees. As a member of the DAL Food Connections unit, the Internal Digital Communication Specialist will work collaboratively with colleagues to contribute to the overall formulation and communication of the business strategy and other messages, taking shared responsibility. A positive attitude and great interpersonal skills are key.

Primary accountabilities:

1. Fully support establishment of the internal communication system and guidelines

2. Liaise with business leaders and units across DAL Food to communicate internal stories

3. Supervise the DAL Food Connections Agents (communication network)

4. Publish DAL Food monthly newsletter

5. Manage communication process input and output

6. Continuously develop and improve the internal communication process and output

7. Lead and work as part of a team of communication professionals

Governance accountabilities:

To participate in weekly Connections unit meeting

To participate in monthly Internal Communication review meeting

To participate in quarterly DAL-wide internal communication action meeting

Success measures

Measures for success in the role will be determined periodically as part of the business planning process. These are likely to focus on contribution to the overall strategic agenda, and delivery of specific project objectives against plan.

Minimum academic achievement, experiences,skills &knowledge

• Bachelor’s degree
• 3 years of experience in a similar role that requires dealing with multiple stakeholders and delivering output
• Fluent in both English and Arabic
• Analytical and creative thinking
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and processes under pressure
• Collaborative with strong interpersonal skills
• Leadership and creativity
• A passionate communicator who can demonstrate a love of writing
• Confident presenter of concepts and ideas
