 Background:

To oversee all aspects ofhostel activity including catering, accommodation facilities, administration, reception duties and general management. The position also involves training, supervising and evaluating EPs in areas of guest services, housekeeping, and maintenance



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Guest Service:

  • Ensure that group and individual reservations are properly effectedvia web booking system, email and telephone.
  • Ensure that guests are provided with quick and flawless check in registration, payment, and check out experience.
  • Welcome and orient guests with information about the facility
  • Provide expertise in local area, events and programs.
  • Facilitate fun, welcoming atmosphere and quality experience.
  • Assure accurate financial transactions in cash and credit cards that match the booking and sales.

House Keeping:

  • Ensure a consistently high level of cleanliness for sleeping quarters, bathrooms, and common area.
  • Ensure clean and clutter free kitchen environment.
  • Ensure clean and organized appearance of front desk and reception.
  • Ensure bottle neck free operation of laundry management (washing, ironing, folding…).
  • Inventory supplies on a daily, weekly and monthly basis or as required.

Maintenance:

  • Ensure that security and safety of premises as well as that of guests is properly maintained.
  • Ensure the integrity of all mechanical functionalities of the premises (cooling, plumbing, electricity, etc…).
  • Ensure that all equipment and appliances are maintained regularly and proerly(kitchen appliances, showers, sinks, toilets, etc.).
  • Identify major problem areas and work with contractor and/or equipment vendor to resolve problem.

In addition to the above listed managerial tasks the Hotel/Hostel Manager will need to work with his/her subordinates in overseeing all aspects of hotel/hostel operations including but not limited to:

 

  • Reconciliation of financial transactions for accurate end of day receipt.
  • Manage EPs cash register, bank deposit, and payroll report.
  • Work with vendors and suppliers to manage inventories.
  • Support hotel/hostelEPs in enforcing hotel/hostel rules, guidelines and policy.
  • Manage difficult situations and difficult personalities requiring management or law enforcement intervention.
  • Apply analytical problem solving skill for assessing the maintenance issues.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Experience of at least 10 years in Hotel/Hostel Management
  • A high level of customer service and problem resolution skills
  • Abroad and domestic travel and hotel/hostel stay experience.
  • Proficiency in business math and ability to reconcile end of day financials.
  • Ability to work with and supervise people at different levels and with different competencies.
  • Ability to foster EPs team spirit, gain respect and loyalty from them.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks while giving attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, manage projects, complete administrative tasks and responsibilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Efficient and effective time management skills.
  • Knowledge of Google Apps and spreadsheet programs is of added value.
  • Property maintenance skill and experience is of added value.
  • Basic understanding of household plumbing, mechanical and electrical principle is of added value.
