 Duties and responsibilities:

Doctors who graduated in the EU are registered much quicker than doctors who graduated outside as their qualifications are recognised to be equivalent to an Irish qualification. The other countries where I think we should focus our attention are at the bottom of the attached document under Overseas Internships recognised as equivalent;. This basically means that they would be accepted for registration without sitting the PRES exam (which is easily the longest route to registration). The countries outside of Europe where we should concentrate on are:

 

I. Australia - recognised as equivalent to a Certificate of Experience awarded in Ireland.

II. New Zealand - recognised as equivalent to a Certificate of Experience awarded in Ireland.

III. South Africa – as equivalent to a Certificate of Experience awarded in Ireland. Internship must have commenced from 1st July 2006 onwards.

IV. Pakistan – internship must have commenced from 1st January 2009 onwards and the rotations meet the standards of an Irish internship.

V. Sudan - recognised as equivalent to a Certificate of Experience awarded in Ireland.

VI. Malaysia - recognised as equivalent to a Certificate of Experience awarded in Ireland.

 

 

All The Doctors They Submit their CV’s before the closing date for applications must hold General Registration with the Irish Medical Council or Trainee Specialist Division Registration with the Irish Medical

Council or must submit the Acceptance Letter for Registration from the Irish Medical Council.

Before taking up the post:

Each successful candidate must be registered in the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council of Ireland in accordance with the Medical Practitioners Act

2007.

Health

A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

Character

Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character

Age

Age restrictions shall only apply to a candidate where he/she is not classified as a new entrant (within the meaning of the Public Service Superannuation Act, 2004). A candidate who is not classified as a new entrant must be under 65 years of age.

• A willingness to develop IT skills relevant to the role

 

Short listing may be carried out on the basis of information supplied in your application form.

The criteria for short listing are based on the requirements of the post as outlined in the Eligibility criteria and skills, competencies and/or knowledge section of this job specification.
