Duties and responsibilities:
Key Functions
-
Compliance with corporate information management and technology standards, guidelines and procedures for United Nations technology with a strictly secured environment.

Advise the Security Advisor in all issues related to information technology (IT), and act as the technical focal point for the development of security telecoms, data communication and information system.

Provide IT support for UNDSS staff, including installation and maintenance of software and hardware, assist in troubleshooting network problems, provide advice on upgrade of software and hardware.

Develop, update and maintain up-to-date and functional ID Card system (IDTel) database and generate reports as required, issue ID cards for UN personnel as per the SOP 29.

Develop and monitor the use of Geographic Incident analysis Tool (GIAnT) system; provide relevant training for UNDSS users.

Develop, maintain and monitor Electronic Daily Staff List (E-DSL) database; develop additional reports, staff lists as required. Provide support and training to EDSL database users.

Installation of commercial and in-house developed software and related upgrades, anti-virus programs on a timely basis.

Ensure regular backup and off-site storage of the UNDSS share drive in line with corporate information management technology standards, guidelines and procedures for the UN technology environment.

Act as UNDSS representative at local Inter-Agency ICT working Group.

Install, support, and maintain security related data-base management systems.

Generate reports, statistical charts from GIAnT and E-DSL database as required.

Assist in preparation of conference rooms (video projector, microphone, and remote control for PowerPoint presentations).

Perform all other assigned duties or tasks designated by the Field Security Coordination Officer (FSCO)/ Deputy Security Adviser (DSA) /Security Adviser (SA).
Reporting and supervision
Supervisory controls: The incumbent works under direct supervision of the Security Adviser (SA). The ICT Associate must keep supervisor informed of all his activities.

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
Education:
|

Secondary School Certificate with IT experience, preferably University Degree in Computer Science but not mandatory.
|
Work Experience:
|
-
At least 6 years hand-on working experience in the field of IT particularly Data Base Management Systems (DBMS) , VoIP telephony and TCP/IP networking, previous employment with a UN agency is an advantage.

Knowledge of Operating ID Card equipment, designing and producing ID Cards.

Languages:

• Excellent communications skills, both orally and in writing in English.
