Security Guard

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Khartoum is seeking qualified candidates for the following post:

 Background:

Under the overall Field Security Specialist Guidance and direct supervision of the Security Associate, the Security Guards will have the following responsibilities:



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

1. Control entry and ensure security of the organization premises by checking ID and validating that visitors have a contact person and legitimate reasons for visiting the UNDP premises.;
2. Patrol assigned areas and ensure that routine/assigned patrols are conducted within the UNDP premises;
3. Maintain surveillance against fire, water leakage and any other action which could damage UNDP premises or injure personnel;

4. Monitor CCTV station as instructed.
5. Ensure that perimeter illumination is turned on after sunset and turned off after sunrise;

6. Wear assigned uniform and keep clean and neat at all times while on duty; 7. Report and on all incidents on UNDP grounds that involve a breach of security procedures, injuries and theft to the Field Security Specialist or the Country Office Security Associate immediately;
8. Respond to enquiries and provide appropriate information or suggest alternative sources of information when requested by Staff or visitors;;
9.Keep record of visitors and issue building passes,;

10. Lock up UNDP Premises at the end of the business day;
11. Operate radio when on duty;
12. Report for duty according to schedule (and call-outs if required) when instructed. This is a shift work based position and includes frequent night work;

13. Follow instructions of Guard Force Commander, Shift Commander, Country Office Security Associate as required;
14.Perform additional security-related duties on request.

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

• Primary education;
• Minimum 2 years of working experience as a security guard and

   knowledge of security services;
• Good written and spoken level of Arabic and English;
• Attentiveness in application of rules and procedures; and
• No criminal record;

ADDITIONAL ASSETS

• Experience working in the UN or other international agency;
• Police and/or military experience is an asset.
