Background: Arab States Regional Office - Sudan Country Office. The Communication Analyst will be based in UNFPA main office in Khartoum and as required, will travel to respective UNFPA programme states.
Under the overall leadership of the Representative, the Communication Analyst reports to the Deputy Representative. The Communication Analyst is responsible for the overall development, management and execution of the communication efforts of the CO.
Job Purpose:
The Communication Analyst will provide strategic guidance to a) implement the UNFPA Sudan Communication Strategy and update the Strategy as required, b) support the implementation of the ICPD Programme of Action with focus on International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD beyond 2014 and MDG beyond 2015, and c) promote the work of UNFPA Sudan among partners, international community, regional and local media, d) promote internal communication in accordance with Global Communication Strategy.
The Communication Analyst will represent UNFPA in Sudan inter-agency communication and advocacy group and will contribute to the joint UN efforts in this area. She/he is also a member of the of the regional (Arab States) communication focal points and on a regular basis, would collaborate with the Regional Communication Advisor (RCA) on all strategic information in the context of the UNFPA country programme.
Work Relations:
The Communication Analyst will work under the direct supervision of UNFPA Deputy Representative and in close working relationship with Assistant Representative, the Humanitarian Programme Coordinator and the entire Programme Team.
She/he will work with the national counterparts (both governmental and non-governmental), local media, the UN Sister Agencies, UN Resident Coordinator Support Office, UN Interagency Advocacy Group to establish functional partnership and enhance coordination mechanisms and to facilitate provision of UNFPA support and response in communicating issues related to UNFPA mandate and the roll out of the ICPD beyond 2014 in the context of the Country Programme Action Plan (CPAP) UNDAF and National Development Plans.
She/he will work closely with the Regional Communication Adviser in the UNFPA Arab States Regional Office and the colleagues in Media and Communication Branch under the Information and External Relations Division at UNFPA HQ office New York to ensure optimal communication flow and necessary coordination. |

Duties and responsibilities:

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required: Education: Advanced degree (Masters level) in Communication and Global Development, Journalism, Social Sciences, Marketing, Public Relations or an equivalent University degree that is directly relevant to UNFPA’s mandate;
Experience: Minimum 3 Years of relevant experience preferably with some experience in an international organization.
Languages: Fluency in oral and written English and Arabic.
Computer skills: Proficiency in current office software applications
