Background: Under the direct supervision of the Local Security Associate, and the overall supervision of the Field Security Supervisor, the Security Guard will familiarize him/herself with all the rules and regulations regarding UN security. More specifically, s/he will perform the following duties: |

Duties and responsibilities: 1. Ensure that all security lights are working and report any failures to the direct supervisor
2. Assess on a day to day basis, the UN compound and report, in writing, any security incidents to Field Security Supervisor.
3. Maintain a log account of non-UN incoming visitors and vehicles
4. Verify that all office facilities are locked at the end of each working day.
5. Guards will account for all properties within their post during their period on duty.
6. Guards are to ensure that no UN property leaves the UN compound without an authorized gate pass signed by a designated staff member only. Confiscated items will be logged and reported to the FSO as soon as practical.
7. The shift commander will maintain a shift log book which will record activities of significance. Each guard shall read the log book at the commencement of duty. The log book may contain message and/or instructions from supervisors.
8. Guards will check the identification of anyone not known to them. UN ID cards holders will be allowed entry without further inspection. Visitors must surrender a piece of official identification to obtain a visitors’ pass. UN staff must be consulted by telephone to confirm the acceptance of the visit. If the staff member is expecting the visitor, then arrangement must be made by the staff member to have the visitor escorted in the compound, while not the presence of the staff member.
9. Letters and packages delivered to guard’s posts will be inspected in the presence of delivery person, at the gate, and the name and address and signature of the delivery person logged in a log book. This is to prevent the introduction of letter bombs, etc. |

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required: Completion of Secondary school education
Three years’ working experience in relevant field.
Attentiveness in application of rules and procedures.
Able to communicate in both written and spoken English & Arabic. |
