 Background:

Under the overall guidance of the Head of Operations and the day-to-day supervision of UN Dispensary Physician, the Nurse is responsible for gaining the trust and confidence of each patient. The sole responsibility is to assist the UN Physician in day to day running of the dispensary/Clinic.


 
 Duties and responsibilities:

• Give advice to International and Local Staff. • Provide treatment for all patients attending dispensary as prescribed by UN Doctor including dressings, injections, dispensation and immunities. • Assist with Medical Examinations. • Assist with referral services for patients • Maintain records of all visits and treatment • Provide information on medical practitioners and medical facilities available in the Country • Provide information on health requirements for travel abroad • Arrange for drugs to up Country Stations wherever necessary • Prepare mission medical kit for upto Country travels on duty • Administrative work attached to dispensary like file Administration, treatment cards, medicine supplies/stock checks and control. • Translation to Doctor/Patient into English/Local Language. • Managing a modified work program. • Responsible for maintaining inventory of medical supplies and equipment. • Escort sick or injured personnel to other medical facilities when required. • To be responsible for the completion of all necessary paperwork. • Educate client to maintain and promote health according to client needs • Take appropriate nursing actions in emergency situations and other situations • Make ethical decisions related to consent and confidentiality • Provide nursing care according to plan and under takes clinical practice procedures and skills in a competent and safe way • Implement plans through tasks such as preparing patients for minor operations, wound treatment and monitoring pulse, blood pressure and temperature. • Be on call outside office hours when necessary

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

• State Registered Nurse and State Certified Nurse. • 5 years of progressively responsible in referral hospital. • Experience involving patient contact, customer service in a medical setting, strong communication skills both verbal and written. • . Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc) and advance knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages. • Fluency in the UN and national language of the duty station.
