  Covers:

RedR’s Staff Welfare Programme has been developed in response to the needs expressed by the humanitarian community in Darfur. Humanitarian work is inherently stressful with staff often impacted by critical incidents. Research has shown if staff members are provided with stress management skills and support after critical incidents, their well-being is significantly improved both in the short and long terms. Darfur is cited as one of the three most violent contexts for aid work in 2009. With the high numbers of critical incidents occurring daily, there is a need within humanitarian organizations to respond supportively to staff members who experience such incidents, and to create supportive working environments. The SWCI training aims to provide the basic knowledge of how to support staff before and after critical incidents occur. The training program will be interactive and participatory. Participants will receive a workbook with training materials to facilitate the learning process.
